What a Bostin’ Ride!

What a Bostin’ Ride!

Over 200 riders joined us last weekend for the Bostin’ Chase Sportive, our opening event of the season. Starting and finishing at Harper Adams University, Newport, Shropshire, and riding on quiet country lanes through picturesque villages the event started with a gentle climb through the lovely village of Edgemont before riding to the high point of Lilleshall Monument, with some spectacular views of Shropshire and into Staffordshire. The three different length routes all had their own charactor and notable sights but the descent over the Blithfield Resevoir and the climbs up onto Cannock Chase offered some amazing views and the riding was exhilarating with sweeping corners and an undulating road.
Weather conditions were calm but cold, with the sun threatening to break through all morning. With no wind or rain the rolling country lanes proved a great introduction to the event calendar. Riders were prepped with arm and leg warmers, plus light weight jackets, all ready for removal, should the temperature rise. Fueled up on coffee and cake at the start and at the feed stations, then hot food at the finish were the incentive along with the sense of achievement…only brake for cake!
Jane from Coventry commented…”This was my 1st Bostin’ Ride in preparation for a number of Sportives and charity rides this Summer and it was a great early season event. Excellent organisation, signage, route planning and feed stations with a fun atmosphere on the road.  Cannock Chase, Blithfield Resevoir and the vistas from the Lillieshall Monument were the highlights of the ride for me, that and the banter at the Penkridge feed station, as they prepped for the Wolves FA cup semi final. I’ll be back for another!”
Comradery is something we try to build into our rides, a sense of togetherness on the road is our ethos.
We had an amazing atmosphere at the start finish, at the feed stations and out on the open road. It was great to see so many riders enjoying some early season fun and with good form on a dry and crisp Spring morning.
See you on the 5th of May for our next ride, the inaugural Bostin’ Diablo Sportive, taking in the delights of the Peaks…to find out more go to… https://bostinride.com/bostin-diablo-sportive-2019/
